Milan is the coffee most of our cafe customers build their menu around, and the one most of our home customers keep reordering. If you are not sure where to start in our range, this is it.
It is a 100% Arabica blend with beans from Brazil, Kenya, Colombia, Ethiopian Mocha and Indian Monsoon Malabar. In plain terms: it is smooth, sweet, with a clean finish. There is a bit of chocolate and a bit of nuttiness, and nothing harsh or bitter. As an espresso it is balanced and easy drinking. In a flat white or latte the coffee comes through clearly without overpowering the milk.

Milan shines as an espresso but adapts well to filter and milk-based drinks. For espresso, aim for a fine grind and a steady 25-30 second extraction to bring out its rich, full-bodied character. If you prefer filter, a medium grind with a balanced pour will highlight its smooth texture and smoky notes.
Our Story
Great Coffee Since 1978
Hawkins Coffee was established in 1978 by Richard Hawkins who started roasting coffee in Kingsbridge in the South of Devon. He was driven by a determination to get the best taste out of the best coffee beans. We took over the business in April 2001 and with the same determination and obsession with quality which has enabled us to grow the business from 5 tonnes to 45 tonnes of roasted coffee per year by the end of 2007.
