Our Most Popular Coffee (and Why 99% of Customers Stick With It)

Every coffee supplier has that one blend. The one that outsells everything else by a mile. The one customers try once and then never bother changing. For us, that's Milan.

What it is

Milan is a smooth, well-balanced espresso blend. It's the coffee most of our cafe customers build their menu around, and it's the one most of our home customers keep reordering month after month.

In plain terms: it's a crowd-pleaser. It's smooth, it's easy to drink, it works brilliantly as an espresso or with milk. There's nothing difficult or challenging about it - and that's entirely the point.

How it tastes

We're not going to give you flowery tasting notes with mentions of tropical stone fruit and a lingering jasmine finish. That's not really our style.

Milan is smooth and sweet with a clean finish. There's a nice richness to it - a bit of chocolate, a bit of nuttiness - and it doesn't have any harsh or bitter edges. In a flat white or latte, the coffee flavour comes through clearly without overpowering the milk. As an espresso on its own, it's balanced and easy-drinking.

If someone asked us to describe it in one sentence: "This is the one most people stick with."

Why cafes love it

Cafe owners don't just need coffee that tastes good - they need coffee that tastes good consistently, works well with milk, and doesn't divide their customers. Milan does all three.

It's forgiving too. If a barista's slightly off with their extraction one morning, Milan doesn't punish them the way a lighter, more acidic coffee would. It stays smooth. That matters when you're making 200 drinks a day and not every single one is going to be perfect.

Most of our cafe customers try Milan, their customers like it, and that's that. They might try something else occasionally out of curiosity, but they always come back. When something works, you don't need to fix it.

How to brew it

Milan works well across methods, but it really shines as espresso:

Espresso: 18g dose, aim for 36g out in about 27 seconds. Rich, sweet, the way it's meant to be enjoyed.

Flat white / latte: Pull it as a double, steam your milk well, and you've got a drink people will come back for every day.

Filter: It works fine as filter, but if you're specifically looking for a filter coffee, you might prefer our Breakfast Blend or High Mountain - they're designed more with that in mind.

Try it yourself

If you haven't tried Milan yet, it's the obvious place to start. If you want to sample a few of our coffees before committing, our Taster Box includes Milan alongside some of our other popular blends - it's a good way to find what suits you.

Already a Milan customer? You know how it goes. Order the usual and we'll have it with you in no time.
